The families and businesses of Minnesota's Second District deserve a government that works for them. They deserve one that respects the hard work behind every dollar it collects and answers to the people for how that money is spent. It's the people's money, and a family in this district shouldn't have to build their life around unchecked mandates that serve big government instead of them.

Freedom in this district is a simple thing. It means running your business and raising your family the way you see fit, without the state assuming it knows better than the people.

St. Paul has spent years assuming the opposite, treating nearly every problem as a reason to write a new mandate or reach a little further into your life. That's how you end up with a payroll tax funding a paid-leave program families never asked for, permitting delays and energy costs squeezing the north, and a state that thinks it can override a parent's judgment or open girls' sports to boys.

My job is to pull government back to its proper size and keep it out of the places it was never meant to be.
